OK, so my addiction to Minesweeper officially reached a new high today when I started seeing in in my dinner. My mom made chicken and dumplings, and as I stared at it the peas and carrots started turning into little numbers and flags. Consequently I wolfed it down as I am beginning to really get worried here, and I didn't want to look at it any more just in case I was about to start poking it and trying to win. On the plus side, my new expert high score now stands at 178!

Other than that, my vacation so far has been ridiculously boring. It is likely that this is the reason I am playing Minesweeper so much.

I was reading Two Towers, when Theoden decides to ride to war with his soldiers, and thought of all of the political leaders (medieval kings, George Washington, etc.) who actually went into battle alongside their men. It really is a pity that the political leaders of today, not just Bush but ALL of them, don't do the same today; it would really make them think twice about signing that declaration of war. If they feel that their own lives are worth risking for whatever reason they want to go to war, then so be it, but how dare they send other men and women, the loved ones of other people, off to risk their own lives for a cause that the leaders themselves wouldn't die for.
If anything it would be easier today to do this than in olden days, considering all of the wireless technology that would allow them to relay messages between them and other soldiers, leaders, etc.

Minesweeper Update:

new high score: 192 on expert
dreams about Minesweeper in the past three days: 1
times I have refused to talk to people to play Minesweeper: 0
^there is still hope!

I have officially become a minesweeper-aholic. It's actually kind of pathetic. Nearly my entire three day weekend has been me playing either minesweeper or free cell, with brief stops for sleeping, homework, and the occasional father daughter dance. Perhaps I will start Minesweeper-aholics Anonymous to give me something to do on the weekends. I might even get J.K. Rowling to come to a meeting or two, as I have read that she is quite the addict herself.

I need a life.

It's kind of sad that I don't really use this journal much anymore. I try, but between EXTREMELY messed up computers and minimal free time, I barely have enough time to think my thoughts, let alone write them down. I am going to try, though.

Tomorrow is New Years Eve. There should be something going on. There isn't. Does this seem wrong to anyone else?!?!?!

Wow, it's been a while.

OK, so college applications suck - they are definitely NOT worth all the stress that gets put into them. Cross country is winding down, but it still hasn't really hit me yet that I only have maybe 2 more races to run in to go. School is really starting to get on my nerves. On Thursday, I have five (that's right, 5!!!) quiz/tests, 3 of which are AP classes, and 1 of which is an honors class. Clearly I was on the brink of insanity when I decided to take on 3 AP classes this year.

::sigh::

I am very mad.

I don't think that I can go to Italy this year.
I've decided that the only guys that I can get are stupid or annoying or a combination of at least one of these qualities and other bad things.
I have no money.
I will be taking the bus to school this year because I can't get a car.
College applications suck.
I busted my knee at camp and it hurts.
My mom is mad at me because she thinks I'm ungrateful.
I'm ungrateful.
I'm causing others pain by making them read this chicken shit.
I suck.

I think I'm going insane. The only people I ever see anymore are my family who are endlessly annoying and refuse to leave me alone, and my co-workers who I I really don't give a damn about. Summer is getting really old really fast. I need to go out with some friends, so if anyone wants to go do something, PLEASE let me know. I must get out of this house.

P.S. I got my very last pair of uniform school shoes EVER today! Very good that I only have one more year of wearing dorky painful shoes to school, very bad that I only have one more year to spend with my best friends in the entire world. Then comes college. God, it's scary how fast it's coming.

Who on earth decided the order of the keys on the keyboard? I mean really, we're going to make a keyboard that is ergonomic and easy to use, so we'll make the letters easy to find by completely messing with the order that everyone learns when they're five. Now repeat after me, kids, "A S D F G H J K L..."

I sincerely apologize to my avid readers (this means you, Drea) who have reminded me of my lack of recent postings. I am very sorry for this disappointment and will try to keep up in the future.
The culprit is actually my computer, because it does what it wants, regardless of what I want it to do.

P.S. The Declaration of Independence was actually signed on July 3, and the Revolutionary War began on April 19 and ended on September 3 (my birthday!), so what the heck are we celebrating today? And where do fireworks, which are in fact illegal in many states, tie into all of this?

I have to say I am getting quite sick of school. I can't take the studying, homework, papers, paying attention in class, not getting to sleep late, and not being able to go to the beach and work on my tan. The last of these is of particular importance to me because this is the first year that I feel I have been getting noticeably tanner. Perhaps it's because I haven't been wearing much along the lines of sun tan lotion. Oh well, bring on the skin cancer!

I re-vamped my journal today, but i'm not sure if I really like it. Hmmm...

P.S. I slept for 14 hours last night. Wow.

P.P.S. (or is it P.S.S.?) I'm almost done with Restaurant at the End of the Universe. It's most excellent, although I must say I liked the first one better.

A man once went for a ride in the country with a friend.  They drove off the main road and through a grove of orange trees to a mostly uninhabited piece of land.  Walter stopped the car and began to vividly describe the things he was going to build on the land.  He explained to his friend, "I can handle the main project myself.  It will take all my money, but I want you to have the first chance at this surrounding acreage because in the next five years it will increase in value several hundred times."

Arthur thought to himself, Who in the world is going to drive twenty-five miles for this crazy project?  His dream has taken the best of his common sense.  He promised to look into the deal later.

"Later on will be too late," Walter cautioned.  "You'd better move on it right now."

Arthur failed to act, however.  And so it was that Art Linkletter turned down the opportunity to buy the land that surrounded what would become Disneyland, the land his friend Walt Disney had tried to talk him into buying.

Check the time. Yes, it is 6am, and as a matter of fact I've been awake for almost an hour and a half already. Why, you ask? Well, it's probably because my mom SAID she wanted to leave at 5, but when I woke up... I was the only one awake! My mom is just stepping out of the shower now, and my brother woke up about 5 seconds ago. Goddamn mother. (heeheehee greg)

So I'm off on yet another splendiferous family vacation. See you on Monday.

P.S. So, what mass do YOU go to?

My grandparents came over for dinner tonight. I showed them pictures from prom. My grandma thinks Chris has nice teeth. That made me laugh because she has had several teeth fall out and then be surgically replaced (ah, the joys of being old). Unfortunately, because of the eighth circle of hell also known as Dr. Clark's research project, I'm not really sure whether that's ironic or just plain stupid.

P.S. I finished Two Towers (the book) today. On to The Return of the King!

P.P.S. Chris, she also thinks you have really nice eyes. Although I happen to agree with her, you may want to stay away from her for a while.
